It was all
a dream.
Kids in the Arts District launched its inaugural summer series in 2025, welcoming children and family members across three lively Saturday events in Grand Center. The free program combined live performances, hands-on artmaking, storytelling, and interactive experiences with local artists and community partners creating welcoming entry points for families to explore the Arts District together.
From music and movement with Girl Conductor and Marko Polo, to storytelling by Bobby Norfolk and a vibrant finale featuring jazz performances and dance sessions, each event showcased the creativity and community spirit that defines St. Louis. Along the way, partners like Trailnet, St. Louis ArtWorks, Pianos for People, Central Baptist Green Team, St. Louis Herpetological Society, Urban Harvest, and Wilderkids Urban Forest School helped families discover new connections to local arts, nature, and neighborhood resources.
With strong community engagement, growing awareness through regional media and social platforms, and generous support from local partners, the pilot demonstrated the power of family-centered arts programming in the Grand Center Arts District. Plans are underway to expand Kids in the Arts District in with more events, more partners, and even more opportunities for families to experience the arts together.
